We had a wanderful time. Cecilia and Massimo could not have been more gracius. It was a very "hands on" experience. We would highly recommend Osteria La Gramola to anyone. We ate at the restaurant two other times and had wonderful meals. When you go to the restaurant, don't be afraid to push on the door. The first time we went it did not look like they were open when, in fact, they were. Tim & Lynda C., MI.

Sommelieries

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Tuscany. My friend and I took a class from Cecilia and Massimo from [L'Osteria ] La Gramola in Tavarnelle and were very, very pleased. So much so that a few nights later we took them 8 empty bowls and had them fill them for us thet we supplied food for 15 people at our villa. We included some of the disheswe learned to cook... homemade pasta with a duck sauce and tiramisu. I would certainly go back and take another class when we return to Tuscany. S., VA

Cecilia DeiCooking Istructor -- La Gramola's Chef, Cecilia Dei, will teach you typical Tuscan & Chianti ingredients, as well as how to use them to obtain the best flavors and sensations. She will prepare with you our traditional recipes, highlighting their history and origin.

Working with her for a whole morning, you'll appreciate the cooking methods used in our country many years ago, when people lived together in big families and grandmothers cooked for all family members.

Cecilia has a long experience in cooking. She started in 1990 in a very small kitchen, where she worked in contact with nature and Chianti hills, learning methods and products directly from Grandmother's Chianti in a real "country style", and acquiring her "real Tuscan roots" from traditional cuisine. Cecilia expanded her experience with important and famous chefs, both in her restaurant and in fantastic locations like Riva del Garda, Galatina (Lecce), Groen le bain - Provence (France), and she received visits from well-known chefs collaborating with them in the preparation of special events. Moreover, Cecilia represented "Tuscan cuisine style" for our Region at many exhibitions.

At present, she continues her research through historical and old books, in order to preserve old methods and flavors existing many years ago in our area. Cecilia is very proud of her many awards, and she is always happy to provide explanations and satisfy our guests' curiosity about Tuscan flavors and sensations.

Massimo MarziWine Expert - Born in Chianti area, Massimo Marzi is an A.I.S.-certified sommelier and a Florence C.C.I.A.A. olive-oil expert. He regularly works at Osteria La Gramola, and he is always ready to propose the right wines for a great meal.

His experience derives from many contacts with wine producers in Chianti and all around the world, tasting wines everywhere during trips in France (Alsace, Chablis, Provence, Burgundy), in German (through the "German wine route"), and Italy (from North to South) to research into local and specific wine flavors to propose our guests several different sensations.

Massimo will open you up the world of Tuscan wines, from basics to complexities, explaining you our Chianti area. Strolling with you through our vineyards, he will show you our colors and flavors and describe wine, olive oil, their history and production, as well as their healthy properties.

Thanks to his experience, he knows Tuscan wines and how to use them properly in combination with your meals. He can also arrange for you a visit to cellars to let you directly know real Chianti production.
